FL Studio

His primary tool for creating electronic music is FL Studio. FL Studio has it all: a mixer, a sequencer, loads of special effects and filters. Truly fantastic. He strongly suggests you purchase a copy! It takes a while to get used to using it, but it really makes music-making a digital breeze.

MAGIX Music Editor 2.0

When Jon needs to modify, cut and paste the sounds he uses in his songs, he uses MAGIX. It was cheap — he got it at Best Buy for $30. It’s very handy for the wave-editing that FL Studio can’t do. He looked at their site (magix.com), but I couldn’t find it. Maybe they don’t sell it anymore?

Bink Video’s RAD Video Tools

He’s started making songs based on movies and TV shows that he likes, and sometimes it’s useful to extract sounds from the movie trailers and movie clips that are available online. To accomplish this he uses the RAD Video Tools from Bink Video. They’re donationware, so be sure to give them a few bucks if you find their stuff useful (he did).

Loops and Samples

Jon has purchased thousands of loops, samples and instruments for use in FL Studio. Two of the places he’s gotten the sounds from are PlatinumLoops.com and PeaceLoveProductions.com. Both have a large selection at reasonable prices.

Hardware

He uses an audio-technica studio microphone for vocals (AT3035), and an Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture device to record from the microphone. He loves the Edirol because it’s very small (perfect for my desk) and supports two studio microphones and has a digital output for headphones.

If you’re interested in creating your own music, he wants to tell you this: it’s a lot easier (and cheaper) than you might think. You don’t need a studio (even for vocals). He records vocals in his office at home. All of the software and equipment costs came to around $1,250 (including the loops). The equipment all fits on my desk, and the software runs on my home PC. FL Studio needs a good bit of memory, so Jon suggests you don’t have less than 1GB of RAM (that’s how much he has and it works fine).

The Domesday book gives every person with a keen interest in history and society to get a chance to see and feel what life in the medieval times was like. Compiled somewhere between 1085 and 1086 AD on the command of King William I of England, the domesday book is the result of a painstaking economic and social survey that was undertaken at that time. Historians differ in opinion on what the primary objectives of the economic and social survey which brought about the Domesday Book was.

As it were, England in those days was organized into fiefdoms, most of which were quite automously run by the local landowners and barons. There are those who then feel that the main objective of the economic survey that brought about domesday book was political, namely that the king wanted to find out how many tenants each landlord had. It is these tenants who could be conscripted into the military, as wars arose. And in order to protect their economic interests, many barons and landlords (who were both the political and economical leaders of their fiefdoms) would be tempted to under-declare the number of their tenants, to reduce their contribution to the military as overly generousl military contributions would translate into working manpower shortages, and consequently lower economic productivity in their fiefdoms. Through the survey that produced the domesday book then, and which was directly carried out by the king’s officers, the king would stamp out such under-declarations.

Another group of historians feels that the primary objective of the survey that brought about domesday book was economic, namely, to rein in tax evassion (by shedding light on what each taxapayers exact holdings were) and also to ascertain the exact extend of state property, or the crown property as it was known. Now kings were very powerful in those times, and such state or crown property was regarded as the personal property of the king. And England was not a very politically stable place then, and in fact just before the survey which brought about the domesday book, there had been some political upheavals with the landlords trying to conquer one another and overrun one another’s economic interests. It was therefore in order for the king to commision the survey that brought about domesday book, at least to ensure that his very own property which was spread out all through England had not been affected by those conquests.

Whatever the primary objectives of the survey that brought about domesday book, it is a book which gives one the opportunity to feel what day to day life was like in the medieval times. Through the domesday book, for example, you get to see what the values and economic aspirations of the people living then were. Careful planning and periods of low intensity may keep an athlete from burning out while training for competition.

Athlete Burnout

Excessive training and a schedule that is simply too full can lead to burnout, to put it in simple terms, An athlete who is engaged in training for a major meet or has a daily schedule of cycling training while preparing for competition must, of course, be very focused. In fact, it is essential that this athlete have training goals at the top of his or her priority list.

However, the athlete that has not other interests or who does not allow time for relaxation is flirting with danger. The spectre of mental or physical breakdown is always there when the schedule pushes beyond reasonable limits.

If this period of overtraining continues the chances increase for the athlete to begin to lose his or her motivation for training. Even if the training methods are innovative and enjoyable at first, the repetition can make training seem stale and, in the athletes mind, unnecessary. Many trade show exhibitors are searching out various ways of cutting their exhibit cost. They feel that they have to attend the trade show after they are very lucrative to most exhibitors. There are in essence two means in which an insect develop fully from egg to adult. Lawn pests insects that develop by steady metamorphosis like the chinch bug emerge from the eggs as nymphs. As a nymph grows, it sheds its unbendable outer skeleton. This is called molting. With each unbroken molt, the nymph grows, develop its wings and inchmeal resembling the adult insect. Nymphs and adults eat the unchanging plants. The chinch bug goes through five molts from egg to adult though some species need 20 molts to reach ripeness.

Insects such as flies, moths, butterflies and beetles develop through a four-stage process that is called complete metamorphosis. They will turn their miens consequentially at each stage. The process begins with the egg, which hatches a larva that does little but eat and get larger. The larva of a fly is called a maggot, the larva of a moth or butterfly is a caterpillar and that of a beetle is a grub. When the larva reaches its greatest expanse, it molts into the next stage: the quiescent pupa, sometimes inside a cocoon, sometimes not. Underneath the skin of the pupa, a furious rearranging of cells takes place, and structures that brand the adult, such as the wings and legs, are formed. In the ultimate stage, the adult insect emerges looking nothing like the larva.

As you can see, knowing the stages of life a pest goes through can be really fruitful for moving lawn pest control. So, the next time you identify a harmless brown moth, you will be familiar with that it’s not the moth you’re going to deal with. Your attention should be focused on its obscured offspring, the cutworm which chews young shoots near the soil surface.
